Jazz dance party at Franco Center Feb. 25
Franco Center 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston, ME, United StatesThe 17-member Bridgton Jazz ensemble will perform from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Franco Center. The ensemble includes vocalists who perform music and songs from the 1940s to today. The event will include a dance floor, cash bar, and concession stand. This is a fundraiser for the families and victims of the Oct. 25, 2023 shootings in Lewiston. USM professor to present free ‘Women Who Risked Everything’ concert at Franco Center March 1
Franco Center 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston, ME, United StatesThe Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine, in collaboration with the Franco Center, will host “The Feminine Voice of Protest” at the 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston venue on Friday, March 1. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. There is no admission fee. “The Feminine Voice of Protest” is a program about women composers who founded a resistance network in 1941 Paris. “They put themselves at great peril as they were Jewish and they sought to save French music, culture, and lives. Only the music of men at that time is remembered,” said Grammy-nominated soprano Malinda Haslett, the University of Southern Maine’s School of Music leader of the Voice Department.
