Line Dance Lessons at the Franco Center
Line dance lessons will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston. $5 donation at the door. Jake Hodgkin will lead the class in the steps of many popular line dances. It’s a great workout if you’re looking for exercise, too. No need to register. Just drop in! Bring your friends.

USM professor to present free ‘Women Who Risked Everything’ concert at Franco Center March 1
The Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine, in collaboration with the Franco Center, will host “The Feminine Voice of Protest” at the 46 Cedar Street, Lewiston venue on Friday, March 1. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. There is no admission fee. “The Feminine Voice of Protest” is a program about women composers who founded a resistance network in 1941 Paris. “They put themselves at great peril as they were Jewish and they sought to save French music, culture, and lives. Only the music of men at that time is remembered,” said Grammy-nominated soprano Malinda Haslett, the University of Southern Maine’s School of Music leader of the Voice Department.

The Franco Center will host line dance lessons led by Jake Hodgkin, production and creative arts manager at the Center. Lessons are held most Wednesday mornings unless the Franco Center is rented and unavailable. Classes are for all levels of dancing experience. $5 donation at the door. Dance lessons go from 10am to 11am. Upcoming dates include: March 20 and 27; April 3, 10, 17, and 24. No need to pre-register. Walk-ins welcome! The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St. in Lewiston. Park in the mill lot on Oxford St. Come in through the Heritage Hall doors.
